The Christmas Dining room to Dine for

December 9, 2015

Are you ready for the big day? Do you have family coming round or just a cosy meal for two this year? The time has flown by and the festive season is upon us. There’s not too much time left to get all the presents sorted and wrapped, perfect any special recipes and finalise plans for Christmas and New Year.

If you’re at home this year, a lot of your effort has been spent decorating the living room but for the big day a lot of your time will be spent in the dining room. It is thought that only 4 in 10 meals are eaten around the table rather than in front of the TV[1]. We hope that every meal on Christmas is eaten around the table. Here at Russell Francis we’ve put together some inviting ideas that will make your family and guests simple drawn to the table.

The Centrepiece

A centrepiece is a powerful eye catching feature that can impress even the most difficult of guests. Something tall can add another dimension to the table. Bringing the turkey and all the elements to the table to serve can be a great way to shake off any formalities.

Christmas Crackers

Love them or hate them, the table setting wouldn’t quite be complete without them. If you want to make them a bit more personal, put your own gifts inside, just be careful not to put anything too delicate inside in case it unexpectedly gets flung around the room.

Table Cloth and Runner

Whether you usually use a cloth or runner to decorate or protect your table, buying a specific one for Christmas is an easy way to quickly dress the table.

Place Settings

Matching place settings, mats, cutlery for every course, all contribute to creating the perfect Christmas meal. Remember that if you are having extra guests over that there is enough to accommodate everyone.

The Table itself

There’s nothing worse than being cramped around a table or worse, splitting up between two. If you’re family is growing our Karel Mintjens Dining Tables are large and solid and accommodating for your family and friends. Skovby dining tables are extremely flexible, they offer 13 different finishes and many sizes, they can comfortably seat up to 20 people. Corndell have created furniture in the Cotswolds for over 30 years and excel on quality, deisgn and value. Our 3 floor showrooms have many dining options so now could be the time to make an investment in your dining room for many celebrations to come.

Whatever it is you have in mind, be sure to have it all ready because the time we have from now until Christmas Day is going to go by in a flash
